BABY ASSESSMENT

BABY ASSESSMENT

Baby Assessment

This assessment is for our young babies whose parents are concerned with any of the following.  Your baby will also receive the full Baby MOT assessment as part of this initial consultation:

☆ In turning feet / other foot anomalies ☆
☆ Head turn preference ☆
☆ Restricted neck movement ☆
☆ Head flattening ☆
☆ Reduced use of one arm / leg ☆
☆ Floppiness or stiffness ☆
☆ Difficulty with head control ☆
☆ Poor tolerance of handling changes in position including tummy time ☆

Once your enquiry has been received an initial virtual consultation will be made.  This is a 30 minute appointment to take a full history, determine that face to face contact is necessary and that Physiotherapy is the correct approach.  It is also an opportunity to ask any questions and ensure a therapeutic relationship can be established.

Lots can be seen virtually with small babies, therefore initial advice can be offered at this point.

Following this it is likely a 60 minute face-to-face appointment will be arranged to gain further insights into your concerns.  Once you and your baby have settled into the session we will need to undress your baby.  Assessments generally start by observing your baby in a variety of positions, gently interacting with your baby and handling them to see how they feel and respond to repositioning.  We will then carry out a top to toe assessment of your baby focussing on your area of concern.

At the end of the session we will give you our clinical findings and recommendations; that may include positioning, stretches or activities to strengthen.  We will also discuss the expected outcome and level of intervention required.

Assessments and on-going input will predominantly take place at our base.

Roundwood Function Suite, 44 Ringland Road, Taverham, NR8 6HY.

Rachel will follow up the assessment with an email summarising her findings and recommendations.  Should immediate intervention be required sessions will be offered.

Follow up recommendations are based on the level of intervention required and skill required to provide this intervention to achieve goals.  This may take the form of weekly/biweekly sessions or 1 to 6 monthly review appointments.  For more information on on-going therapy costs see our pricing structure.
