TODDLER assessment

TODDLER ASSESSMENT

Untitled design (42)

Sometimes when little ones get up on their feet, parents can notice niggling concerns with their infants foot and leg position. Many of the below concerns are a variation of normal and will not require on-going intervention however a full and thorough lower limb and functional assessment can be reassuring and where appropriate activity advice will be offered

☆ Tip toe walking ☆

☆ Flat and rolled feet ☆

☆ In-toeing / out-toeing gait ☆

☆ Bow legs / knocked knees☆

Once your enquiry has been received an initial virtual consultation will be made. This is a 30 minute appointment to take a full history, determine that face to face contact is necessary and that Physiotherapy is the correct approach.  It is also an opportunity to ask any questions and ensure a therapeutic relationship can be established.

Interacting virtually with small children can be a challenge but if the call can be set up so your child is playing in the background lots of information can be gathered and where possible initial advice offered.

Following this a plan can be drawn up and a face to face consultation arranged.

Our face to face assessment will then last approximately 1 hour, during which a full assessment of posture, joint position and movement, muscle strength and function will be performed, initially through observation and play.  Once your child has settled into the session, we will ask you to remove their clothes (down to their nappy) and conclude the session with a physical examination of the above.

Towards the end of the session we will discuss the findings and our recommendations.

Assessments will predominantly take place at our base, where we have access to a large room and outdoor space should this be required.

Roundwood Function Suite, 44 Ringland Road, Taverham, Norfolk, NR8 6HY.

Rachel will follow up the assessment with an email summarising her findings and recommendations.
