Once your enquiry has been received and initial virtual consultation will be made. This is a 30 minute appointment to take a full history, determine that face to face contact is necessary and that Physiotherapy is the correct approach. It is also an opportunity to ask any questions and ensure a therapeutic relationship can be established.
Interacting virtually with small children can be a challenge but if the call can be set up so your child is playing in the background, lots of information can be gathered and where possible initial advice offered.
Following this a plan can be made and a face to face consultation arranged. This will then last approximately 1 hour, during which we will observe your child, play with your child and challenge their skills to see how they are developing and where their ceiling of development is. This will often include undressing your child down to their nappy/undergarments and we will need to handle your child.
Towards the end of the session we will give you our clinical findings and recommendations; whether that be positioning, stretches or activities to strengthen and promote function. We will also discuss the expected outcome and level of intervention required.
Assessments and on-going input will predominantly take place at our base. Sometimes it is helpful to see children in their home environment to set up activities and build into everyday play.
Please note home visits are possible subject to availability and travel charges.
Roundwood Function Suite, 44 Ringland Road, Taverham, NR8 6HY
Rachel will follow up the assessment with an email summarising their findings and recommendations. Should intervention be required a follow up visit will be arranged to outline the intervention and set up the strategies. This may be at the clinic or in your home (depending on which is deemed more appropriate to on-going intervention).
Follow up recommendations are based on the level of intervention required and skill required to provide this intervention to achieve goals. This may take the form of weekly sessions for 6-8 weeks or 1 monthly to 6 monthly review appointments. For more information on on-going therapy costs please see our pricing structure.
