Newborn MOT - Services page

Our Newborn MOT is a top to toe assessment for newborns and babies under 4 months of age.

This assessment is open to all families but is particularly suited to those who would like to be proactive in promoting development due to the following:

☆ Premature or Traumatic Birth ☆

☆ Admission to NICU ☆

☆ A family history of developmental disorders / delay ☆

☆ Known or suspected developmental condition ☆

The assessment will start by taking a brief history and discussing your baby and any concerns you may have.  We will then observe your baby and their response to different stimuli such as sound and visual objects, their desire to move and quality of movement.  We will then move your baby into different positions to determine their muscle tone and functional abilities before conducting a full musculoskeletal-skeletal assessment to look at your baby’s head shape, spinal alignment, hips and limbs.

Following this we will discuss your baby’s presentation and appropriate developmental activities such as positioning, equipment and toys.

Assessments will predominantly take place at our clinic.  However home visits are possible subject to location (travel charges will apply).

Developmental follow ups for vulnerable babies are recommended at 4 months, 8 months and 12 months.  These can be booked ad-hoc or you can subscribe to our developmental support package to spread the cost of assessments and take advantage of the other associated benefits.  Follow this link to see our developmental support packages.
